The Rett Syndrome Association of Ireland

Charity Walk in the Mourne Mountains – 30th June 2013

Every year Politicians from all parties in  the Oireachtas & Seanad take part in a Charity walk to raise funds for a nominated Charity. This year for the first time ever , the event included Politicians from the Northern Assembly also.

We were delighted that Rett Syndrome & CDKL5 were chosen as the nominated charity for 2013.

The event was hosted by Mountaineering Ireland at Tollymore Mountain Centre, Bryansford, Co, Down  and following a welcome speech from Dawson Stelfox , the first Irish man to stand on the summit of Mount Everest and the first Britain to summit Mount Everest via the North Ridge and Karl Boyle CEO of Mountaineering Ireland. The attendees from all over the island of Ireland then divided into different groups for one of the four organised walks.

We’d like to thank all those who attended and helped make this wonderful event the success that it was, most especially all the members of Mountaineering Ireland and the staff of Tollymore Mountain Centre for their hospitality and assistance.
